Thanksgiving 2010

The best part of Thanksgiving was having Vivian (my oldest grand child) help.  We don't spend much time together these days.  At 18 she spends most of her time with her friends rather than her grandparents.  It was so nice to spend the early morning hours with her and Papa before anyone else got up.  I felt like all was well with the world.  I just love spending time with this young lady.  Vivian made our edible center piece and the stuffing.  I am so proud of her she did a great job with both.
As always all of the food was wonderful.  Jeff and Colleen made a Roasted Red Pepper soup that was to die for.  Jessica made her Spinach Dip and Green Bean Casserole, I have never made a Green Bean Casserole, I don't even have the recipe, lucky for me this is one of my daughter-in-laws specialties.

Thank you LORD for blessing me with a wonderful family!

Cooking with Ben

Today Ben helped me make homemade Chicken Pot Pies.  He did all of the chopping for me.  I have been wanting chicken pot pies  for a long time but I don't like the store bought ones so I decided to try and come up with my own recipe.  It turned out great, I think I will do it again soon.  Ben suggested that we make them for our annual fundraiser dinner for the youth at church in February.

My Birthday

My birthday started out so great.  First worshiping my LORD with Lambs Fellowship, then back home where my son and daughter-in-law had brunch for me.  Sweet potato waffles with bacon.  If that is not good enough my dear husband made a wonderful dinner for me, Tapas. Crab tart, spicy chicken livers, orange marinaded chicken with tomatillo salsa and gucamole.  I have the most wonderful husband and family.  I am very blessed.

Birthday Surprise

On Friday I went with my best and dearest friend Betty  (we have been BF's since we were 11) to a quilt show for one of the guilds she belongs to.  Betty had 11 of the most beautiful quilts in the show, when we got to the last row one of her quilts was hung with the label showing so she told me to go and look at the label.  I was so surprised to read that the quilt was a birthday gift for me.  I know it doesn't show up well in my post but the quilt is in shades of green and has blocks with embroidered shamrocks in it and blocks with Irish verses in it.  The significance is that my given name is Kathleen Flanagan.  I am so blessed to have Betty as my best friend.

Anniversary

Today is my Anniversary!!

43 years ago I married the the best man I have ever known, and if I had my life to do over again, I would marry him again.

I was only 14 when we started dating, and I thought he was wonderful.  He was my hero.  I thought he could do anything, and he can!  He has proven it over and over.  He spoils me rotten, and is always there to pick me up when I fall, lift my spirits when I am down and just listen when I need to talk.  He even goes fabric shopping with we!  Could a husband be any better?  He loves me like nobody else ever could.

Thank you Ben for making me your wife.

Thank you GOD for giving us to each other.

I just went on one of my favorite quilting web sites and saw a new version of the Magic Nine Patch, it is called Magic Nine Patch Next Generation.  Check it out it is wonderful.  The web site belongs to a sewing teacher, the site is LynBrown.com.  She gives some patterns free others you need to buy.
